My Poor Neglected Blog

I've really fallen off the bloggin' wagon lately. There isn't any really good reason (like an exotic vacation to parts unknown), but then again, there isn't any disastrous reason - and that's always a good thing. There are just lots of little reasons: the routine of school again, my house is becoming  a little more decluttered (a little, I said), technical issues (a fact of life when you have a Geek Husband),  and a push to work on Zsiage design team projects for Memory Trends as well as other commitments I had made.

Not only have I neglected my own blog, but I've been a drive-by reader of my favorite blogs without so much as as comment here and there. My apologies, and I thank those of you who continued to check in!

Since I know the only reason many of you check in is to see Kid's Art on Friday, I'll indulge you all! (It would seem that our favorite little artist is the only one doing any art around here (and sometimes it feels that way to me!), but I've just been working on stuff I can't post yet!) And in proud mommy news, a project of his was selected to be showcased in the art case of the entrance of his school! Yes, I will get pictures!

So, without further adieu...

Kids' Art on Friday MIA

Mom was just too busy today working on this project to pull off Kids' Art.  Thankfully Shari and Kelly are holding down the fort. Check out their blogs for some fun Kids' Art!

(As for the project: The walls are all painted. Geek Husband has installed some shelves. We need to put the room back together and work on the finishing touches. Geek Husband also has a bookcase to build. Slowly but surely it's coming together!)

StudioL Gets Risque

Warning: If there are young children or impressionable men of any age in the room with you, you might want to ask them to leave now.

One of the latest brainstorms to come out of the amazingly fertile and wacky minds of the Mavens at The Creative Underground was a panty-shaped book collaborative with the theme "Put on your big girl panties and deal with it!" Yes, I said "panty-shaped"! The idea was to offer up inspiration and coping skills on those days when life gets the better of you - in the shape of female undergarments.

A number of participants have posted sneak peeks on their blogs. Some have been very demure showing only a glimpse of their creations and leaving much to the imagination. However, "demure" seems to become a mute point as one gets older (see previous birthday posts).

So, here is my contribution in all its glory. I hope no one is offended. It is, after all, a "panty swap".  ;-)

"Kiss my grits" is a reference to a 70's sit com. If you are too young to know what I'm talking about, please don't tell me that. The "loops" are for attaching it to the book.

Send in the Clowns

 

I love this clown picture. It was such an honor to have it displayed at the local Post Office along with the pictures from the rest of his class.

But more than that, if you knew that little guy in the picture well, you would know that the clown in the background is the perfect illustration of my little goofy guy's personality!

And it was...

a very nice birthday! The best part? Shopping road trip... ALONE! Geek Husband even rearranged his afternoon schedule to pick up the kiddos so I didn't have to rush home. Gotta love that guy!

As for the loot, the  first stop was a scrapbook store that I hadn't been to before. But a girl can't live on art and scrapbook supplies alone.

Yes, I actually said that!

The shoes? Well, shoes are not optional in my book. They are a necessity.  They are even worthy of their own altered book . I would have needed them sooner or later so I might as well get them while I had access to good shopping. (The pair hiding in Sketcher box is the "practical" pair.)

Now, this was the splurge. Something other than makeup from the drugstore - with a makeover to boot!

And the flowers. I was met at the door with the words, "And mommy, you can use the ribbon in your scrapbooking!"

(For the record, shopping also included a stop at The Children's Place . It wasn't all about me!)
